Hypothyroidism is a condition characterized by abnormally low thyroid hormone production. These disorders may directly or indirectly involve the thyroid gland. Because thyroid hormone affects growth, development, and many cellular processes, inadequate thyroid hormone has widespread consequences for the body1. Hypothyroidism, also called underactive thyroid, is when the thyroid gland doesn’t make enough thyroid hormones to meet our body’s needs. The thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland in the front of neck. Thyroid hormones control the function of different vital organs in body, even the heart beats. Without enough thyroid hormones, many of our body functions slowdown.
